Researchers at the Technical University of Zurich say global warming could be limited to 1.5 degrees if 900 million hectares of forest were planted. 900 million hectares corresponds to the size of the USA or one third of all the current forests worldwide. Russia would be best suited for reforestation, followed by the USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil and China. Thomas Crowther, co-author of the study:
